This is the follow up to High School Musical. Basically it is all about the decisions that teenagers have to make about their future. They all get summer jobs at Lava Springs, a club that Sharpay and Ryan's dad owns. Because Sharpay is in love with Troy she gets the manager of Lava Springs to give him a promotion and Troy starts to see less and less of Gabriella. Then Troy gets a chance to train with the Red Hawks, a top basketball team. He decides to take the chance and train with them. But soon Gabriella starts to wonder why he is being so distant and quits her job at Lava Springs, then Troy has to decided between basketball and Gabriella and his friends. In the end Sharpay decides that there may be people better than her.

Ryan gets angry because he wanted to sing with Sharpay, so he leaves and makes friends with Troy's friends and teaches them how to dance. In the meantime Troy forgets about Gabriella because he's always trying to impress Sharpay's parents, so Gabriella leaves him. Troy realises he was wrong, at the end he refuses to sing with Sharpay. All the friends sing together in the talent show, they all make up, Ryan wins the prize and Troy and Gabriella kiss.
