Ace and Luffy grew up together, hence Luffy has known Ace his whole life.
Sorry to correct you, but that isn't true. Luffy was addopted by Ace's adoptive father when he was young, but not a baby. I think he was somewhere around five years old. They seem like they grew up together from the beginning because they grew so close, but in reality they didn't meet until later on.
