It depends entirely one what he is doing. An attorney can get anything from $0 to over $500 an hour. Pro bono means he does it for free. A highly skilled patent attorney in court can get $500 an hour. Something in between is more common, usually around $150 an hour when they have a paying client. Or they may be working on contingency, which could mean they get nothing for many hours or work, or get an awful lot for doing next to nothing.
