Who the hell were the stranglers? I'm pretty sure it was the Beatles. This could be tricky to be absolutely sure but I do know the Stranglers had over 40 top 40 hits. As far as UK top 40 hits go, I count 25 for the Beatles, and 24 for The Stranglers. Surprisingly close.

That depends on the chart. If it's the Top 5, five. If it's the Top 10, ten. The same with 20, 40, 100 and 200.

BBC Radio 1 is the official station for the United Kingdom top 40. They have the top 40 singles as well as the top 40 albums. You can find who's new to the chart and who is rising to the top and who's falling to the bottom.
