Emmett's last name is Cullen. Jasper's last name is Hale.
You never find out what Emmett's real last name is, so the Cullen's just decided to make it Cullen.
They wanted to stay kind of hidden and conspicuous, so they had Jasper share a last name with Rosalie. Jasper's original last name is Whitlock. Rosalie and Jasper are both pale, tall and extraordinarily beautiful, so they could get away with being twins.

∙ 14y agothe reason Jasper and Rosalie have different last names than the others is because it would be weird if they went around dating other people with the same last name as them:] like Alice and Jasper one goes by Hale and the other by Cullen and Rosalie and Emmett one goes by Hale and the other Cullen:] Okay would it not seem weird if Alice Cullen and Jasper Cullen were dating so instead it is Alice Cullen and Jasper Hale are dating and Emmett Cullen and Rosalie Hale are dating see so that way people won't think ' what an odd bunch ' for that reason. And Rosalie and Jasper pretend to be twins because they look so much alike and they are the same human age.

Rosalie's surname when she was human was Hale. There is a simple reason for why Jasper and Rosalie aren't Cullen, wouldn't it be kinda creepy for Alice Cullen to date Jasper Cullen? the slagging would be a bit much. So all the couples have different surnames, except obviously for Carlisle and Esme, as they are the 'parents'.
If the Cullens ever move from Forks and start in a new school, Bella will probably take a different surname to Cullen.

∙ 13y agoThe Reason why they are made in 'public' biological twins because even though the only thing they have in common is the blonde hair, pale skin, gold eyes, purple circles under the eyes, and beauty of course was because Jasper was having a hard time adapting to the new life style so they needed a reason to keep together with one of the sibling t all times which be impossible at class with Edward and Alice because he was playing a year older then them and to them Rose made sense they could make up a story that made sense. They were twin and when they were little were in a tragic car cash that killed both of their parents. He experience post traumatic stress disorder and needed to be with his twin at all times. with the help of Carlisle he was able get his scheduled changed and his seat moved for 'medical reasons' that is why they make Jasper and Rose brother and sister

∙ 14y agorosalies name was rosalie hale when she was human and they made jaspers last name hal so that everyone could stay with there partner without it seeming really weird and the chose jasper to pretend to be rosalies twin because he looks the most like rosalie ( blonde hair.)
