You have one picture of stripes and dots, that show several parts of a motion on the same spot. Now you move a slide with transparent vertical (or horizontal) strips over this picture. Depending on where the slide goes, it will reveal one section of the picture, and hide others. Ideally the spots revealed will add up to animation when the slide moves.
