How does Inuyasha's dad die?

It doesn't say how he died in the series, but in the third InuYasha movie, InuYasha: Swords of an honourable Ruler, it is said that his father died from a human who was in love with his wife. After battling Ryukotsai, he returns to Izaoyi, InuYasha's mother, in time to see his newborn son. When he arrives, he finds that somebody, I can't remember who, is abiut to kill InuYasha and his mother by burning their house down. He finds Izaoyi inside with baby InuYasha, and gives them the kimono of the fur of the fire rat, and they escape, leaving him behind to battle with the "murderer", but because he is so weak from his previous battle, he gets defeated and dies

Well, If you watch the third movie a guard that loved Inuyasha's mother killed her because she gave her self to a demon. Then Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's father show's up and fights the gurads out side and then go's in to the castle and brings his mother back to life with tensaiga. In the end she pretty much dies of old age.

The exact circumstances of his death are not explicitly shown in the original manga or the televised anime series or its conclusion, Inuyasha: Kanketsuhen (Inuyasha: The Final Act), but in Inuyasha The Movie 3: Swords of an Honorable Ruler, Inuyasha's father is shown with mortal wounds after a great battle.

Sesshomaru confronts him in order to obtain Tessaiga and Tenseiga, but fails to acquire the swords; Inutaisho (Japanese for "Dog Lord," since Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's father was considered "The Great Demon of the Western Lands") returns to the castle where Izayoi had just given birth to Inuyasha and manages to revive her with Tenseiga before he is confronted from the man who loved Izayoi but would also have been her killer: Takemaru of Setsuna. He gives Izayoi the Fire Rat Robe that would later become Inuyasha's and tells her the name of the child before engaging in battle with Takemaru. Because Takemaru had already ordered the castle to be set aflame, when the castle collapsed shortly after Izayoi's escape, it was believed that all inside had perished.

Inuyasha's father died on the night of his birth. His father ran to save Inuyasha and his mother Izayoi while sporting a fatal wound (which he didn't let heal) and when he arrived at Izayoi's home, the attacks he received from the guards only made it worse. When he revived Izayoi (after she had been murdered my Takemaru of Setsuna) he stayed in the burning castle to fend of Takemaru while Izayoi ran off with Inuyasha.

So, his father eventually died in the resulting fire. This can all be seen at the beginning of Inuyasha The Move III.
