You can audition for a talent show like America's/Britian's Got Talent. You could do it through YouTube as well, as many people get their fans from posting videos on YouTube. Look for local (or bigger) talent shows and performance opportunities... The more experience the better. You could talk to a choir, band, or voice coach if they know of any opportunities. I've seen some people get their name out by performing on the streets, in malls, book stores, ect. with a guitarist or a pianist to back you up. Just make sure it's legal and safe.
