Clarke had a torn tendon on the finger that doctors tried to attach but it was unsuccessful. The finger was not functional anymore so they decided to amputate. It had nothing to do with his Diabetes as some people made assumptions. Clarke told this story first hand in an interview on the Cam and Strick Podcast.
