Kenshin died from lepresy. Also, Kenshin had passed this disease to Kaoru through sexual intercourse.
^^ That's not canon, that happened only in the second OVA (Reflection). In the manga, Kenshin does not die. His Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu becomes ineffective due to the strain it has exerted on his body so he can't use it anymore. He retires and lives happily ever after with Kaoru.
Ohh and I don't think that was supposed leprosy. Different people have different theories on what the disease was but it may very well not be a real disease. It's something he got from using his swordsmanship too much.
Kenshin didn't die in the manga.. He lived happily ever after. But he died in the non canon OVA titled Reflections. He contracted some kind of a disease. Leprosy, shingles?? for all we know it could be AIDS ^_^ Kauro got infected too through sexual intercourse. He wandered again after feeling guilty of living a happy life after marriage to Kauro. He did eventually find his way home (with Sano's help)and died at Kauro's arms. The X mark on his face disappeared as he took his last breath indicating that he was finally freed from the horrors of his past.. sigh! poor Kenshin..
Would help if you said which Kenshin you were referring to..
The only 'Kenshin' i can think of off the the top of my head is Himura, who features in Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X.
~ Spoilers: Seriously don't read if you havent watched the series yet ~
Himura Kenshin dies in the last OVA, Samurai X: Reflection from an unknown disease. It's been speculated that the disease is similar to that of Leprasy.
However, Kenshin didn't die in the manga, or the original anime series of Rurouni Kenshin.
By sick, Im assuming you mean the problem with his nerves. The reason he got sick was because of the Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu. The Hiten-ryu was for a person with "superhuman" build, like Hiko Seijuro the XIII. When he mastered the ougi (Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki) of the Hiten-Ryu, his body started to decline. Basically, mastering the Hiten-Ryu ougi was the reason of his sickness.
At first Kenshin's name was Shinta, but Hiko Seijuro named him Himura Kenshin when he started to teach him hiten mitsurugi ryu.
No
Rurouni Kenshin is an amazing(In my opinion) manga that is about a rurouni (wanderer) named Himura Kenshin who was once a hitokiri (assassin) called Battosai who killed many to start the Meiji Era. Now he carries a reversed edge sword (sakabato) to prevent him from killing. He soon meets a young girl, Kamiya Kaoru who owns a dojo. Along the way he befriends people like Sagara Sanosuke and Myojin Yahiko. Kenshin encounters many foes from his past and the present and fights to protect the present. READ IT!!
No, they aren't going to make a season 2 of Rurouni Kenshin. If you want to find out what happens next, read the manga. All of Kenshin's history and a little bit of his future is in there. Watch the OVAs if you want to know all of what happens to Kenshin.
Kenshin loved Tomoe when he was 15, but she's dead. At first Kenshin doesn't show any sign of affection to anyone, but he later shows and tells Kaoru he loves her. Hope this answers your question!
Himura Kenshin was created in 1994.

At first Kenshin's name was Shinta, but Hiko Seijuro named him Himura Kenshin when he started to teach him hiten mitsurugi ryu.

Kenshin Himura married twice. Kenshin first married Yukishiro Tomoe when he was still an assassin. After Tomoe's death, Kenshin stayed single for a number of years until he met Kamiya Koaru and eventually married her.
His name is Kenshin Himura, but was originally Shinta. It was changed by Seijiro Hiko when he began teaching Kenshin Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu
The character Kenshin Himura is fictional, and was created by Nobuhiro Watsuki. However, Watsuki based the character of Kenshin on a real-life samurai named Kawakami Gensai, who was one of the four most notorious assassins of the Bakumatsu period of Japan. Kenshin's sword style was also based on a real samurai of the Tokugawa period, named Matsubayashi Henyasai.
