After a lengthy search I was unable to find the jingle anywhere on the internet. I do know the song you refer to but it seems nostalgia radio is the only place you ever hear it anymore. Well to my knowledge, in the older days, this song wasn't written as a Christmas song. It was a time before they had automobiles. In order for other carriages to hear them coming/going, they attached various (jingle) bells to the horse/s pulling them along.
To keep the cows at peace, The cows hear the jingle of the bells and feel protected.
