Yes, Naruto was canceled on Cartoon Network. It was because a little boy decided to act like Gaara and bury himself in sand and he suffocated to death.

If you do not believe the above case, here are some opinions from WikiAnswerers:

* The other (rumored, not entirely true) reason Naruto was canceled was because it no longer fit the programming that Cartoon Network had intended. Although it is not entirely true, it seems apparent that it did turn out this way, because the two anime series CN had, DragonBall Z and Naruto, had both ended in a similar fashion where it was to almost never be shown again. Anime wasn't CN's style.

* Naruto was just another Anime test to see if Anime would work on Cartoon Network, and it did, until someone had died over it (the test was because one Anime, DragonBall Z, didn't work out, maybe another, Naruto, might). * The manga writers didn't want the T.V. show to get ahead of the actual manga series, mostly due to the fact that Naruto hadn't been on Cartoon Network for many, many months.
