Indeed they are. Fili is the older and more responsible one, whereas Kili is more carefree and does not feel the pressure of royalty as much as his older brother. Fili and Kili were both born of Dis, Thorin Oakenshield's sister. So, to Thorin, they are his sister-sons, and to Fili and Kili, Thorin is their uncle. They became rather close to Thorin, who became their idol, and developed a thirst to impress him.
