FranI think as kids growing up, they were attracted to each other and became very attached and at some point, experimented, perhaps confused on their own sexuality, but as adults came - grew into who they are, with Paul being hetero and Artie bi, seems to me in listening and watching interviews with them later in life to be the obvious scenario- and they definitely love each other in whatever way you want to look at it- that's how I see it .
