half split technique is a fault finding method in which faulty area is compared with one of the similar working area. in hydraulic rig, say if cylinder B is not working, we compare it against another working cylinder, say cylinder A. By comparing we collect data and determine the difference between both working and non working components.

i.e. what is the status of incoming and out going flow in both (working and non working) components?

are both pressurized only when it should?

etc.

I believe this is more unit substitution

Split half technique is used when fault finding on an electrical circuit. If you have a supply and an earth, you would then check for voltage about half way along the circuit. If you had voltage, you would then pick a point about half way between your present position and earth. You would then repeat with half way of every subsequent haalf until you had located the break

What is the split nut in lathe?

The split nut, also known as half nut enables thread cutting on a lathe. It is engaged around the lead screw (which is housed in the apron attached to the saddle) and moves the saddle in the required direction at the required pitch.

How do you determine which windings are field on a series DC motor?

Both the supply wires that enter a series motor is the field windings the field is split in two and is connected at the split to the brushes that is connected to the commentator of the armature, so the current pass thru the first half of the field then thru the armature and then thru the other half of the field. With a parallel DC motor the two fields is in series and the two wires is connected to the brushes so is the supply.

Does half of the genetic code come from the female gamete and half from the male?

in short, yes. the gen. code is split over chromosomes, which come in pairs. a human has 23 such pairs. one of from each pair comes from the father and one from the mother. each chromosome itself consists of two strains, with one being the mirror of the other. this is a rather complex topic, for a more detailed answer, see wikipedia. (hets half of its genetic code from the father and half from the mother)

How airfoil design works?

An air foil works with thrust, when you creat thrust the air foil creats a lift. The lift is created by the speed of the air being split in half, creating a "zero gravity effect" (which is the lift)

What can cause genetic variation?

genes are kept in chromosomes, there is this thing called meiosis which is when the chromosomes/genes get split in half, one from both parents that way it equals the normal amount of genes later. the genes have tons of ways to mix and match around while getting split apart and then ending up in the same place.
