You cannot trade with Visual Boy Advance, therefore it is impossible to trade with Pokemon Red or Gold. The emulator is lacking the ability to connect to the internet or with another device. In real life GameBoy Advance, Sapphire would still not be able to trade with previous generations.
You can't play Pokemon Platinum on visual boy advance. It's a Nintendo DS game and visual boy advance can only play gameboy games.
It is possible to trade Pokémon on Visual Boy Advance on Pokémon Fire Red. It will not work with the standard program though. You will have to download a special version.
