Can there be 600 volt single phase power?

Yes there is single phase for 600 volts. It is used for lighting. You need a transformer which gives you 600 volts plus a neutral. The voltage for the one phase to neutral is 347.

What are the averag volts used in a US Home?

US homes use a 240 volt single phase 'Edison' system. It is a 3-wire (4 with the ground) system. Phase to phase measures 240v, while each phase to neutral measures 120v.

Why 380 volts line to line if connect line to neutral is 220 volts?

A voltage of 380 volts is a three phase voltage. On a three phase four wire system, each phase leg to neutral (grounded) will give you 220 volts. This voltage is obtained by dividing the phase voltage by 1.73, as the phase legs are generated 120 degrees from each other. Square root of three is 1.73 divided into 380 equals 220 volts.

Can you single phase 220VAC in place of three phase 220VAC?

Yes, just use L1 and L2 ( just 2 of the 3 legs), or one of the legs to a neutral wire if equipped. Just make sure the voltage is the same as the 220 volts you wish to have with single phase service.

How does a 3-phase 115 volt power supply measure 200 volts in-between each phase?

You should have about 230 volts between any pair of 3-phase service legs: L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L1. If the voltage measured between any one pair results in low or no voltage, then you have a fuse or circuit problem.

Can you run single phase 230 from one side of 480 volt 3 phase?

No, you will not obtain 230 volts. From a wye connected three phase 480 volt supply, 277 volts can be obtained from one phase leg and the neutral on the wye connection. 480 volts/1.73 (sq. root of 3) = 277 volts.

What is voltage between earth and line?

In a typical residential situation there is 220 to 240 volts between the two hot wires that are typically red and black and 110 to 120 volts between neutral and either black or red. The voltage between neutral and earth should be zero.

How is 110 volts and 220 volts measured?

With a voltmeter Keep volt meter terminal on phase and neutral wire and it will show the exact volatage

What is the total of a phase to earth voltage on 11000 volts?

To calculate phase-to-earth voltage on a 11 kV system, divide the voltage by the square root of 3 (1.732). So, the phase-to-earth voltage would be around 6350 volts.

How many amps does a 2000 watt heater draw at 240 volts on each line?

For a single phase circuit, the equation you are looking for is I = W/E. Amps = Watts/Volts.

Does a 480 volt panel have a neutral bus?

Usually yes. A typical 480 volt panel is a 3 phase panel with 480 volts line-to-line and 277 volts line-to-neutral. However, I did once see a panel that was 480 volts, 3 phase, but because it served only motors it did not have a neutral. (a 3 phase motor doesn't use a neutral.) Similarly, if a panel uses only 2 legs of a 3 phase 480 volt system, which would be called single phase, it would not require a neutral if it only feeds 480 volt single phase loads. But I find the idea of no neutral to be extremely unusual and in my one personal experience, I blamed it on the age of the system. In 16 years of commercial and industrial construction I have never installed a 3 phase panel without a neutral and all my work is designed by engineers.

How do you create a common lead from 3 phase 120 volt?

If you are referring a common lead as meaning a neutral of a three phase system, the three phase voltage has to be 208 volts. This type of connection is in a wye configuration. It is found by this formula 208/1.73 = 120 volts. This connection will supply 120 volts between any one of the three supply legs and the grounded neutral.
