It is not so important as to how many times you eat in a day so much as what you eat and how much. Your caloric intake each day should match what you need to maintain a healthy wt. while doing things which burn calories such as daily activities and exercises.
If you are over wt. then this amount of food and drink should be only what you would need to be at your healthy wt. not so much as to maintain an over wt body and then you can lose wt...and if you are under wt your intake should reflect what you would need to get to a healthy wt. i.e. eating more calories so that you will gain wt. Also remember these guidelines are for people without other medical conditions or medications which dictate the need to eat at certain times to keep healthy...such conditions would include Diabetes and diabetics on diabetic drugs and hypoglycemic people. There are of course exceptions and more information to all of these...
