∙ 14y agoDepending on the year/make/model of your car,It may very well be that your locking Torque Converter is locking at the wrong time. If,for instance,it's a GM vehicle, there is a 4 prong plug on the side of the transmission. Un-plug this and if the problem goes away you knw you have a bad lock-up solonoid.

∙ 14y agoThe drive gear will turn faster. If the driving gear was twice the size of the drive gear, the drive gear would rotate twice for every revolution of the said driving gear.
It is the transmission gear selector. P = Park R = Reverse N = Neutral D = Drive 3 = Third Gear 2 = Second Gear L = Low Gear or First Gear Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, Third Gear, Second Gear, Low Gear
Is every gear essentially reverse now?
There is no drive in a standard transmission car. In most cases you will have reverse, neutral, 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear, and 5th gear.
Turn the drive gear 1 complete turn, and count how many times the driven gear turns. For example, to figure out the rear end gear ratio if the drive shaft turns once and the rear turns 3 and a half times you have a 1:3.5 gear ratio. This means the rear wheels turn 3.5 times for each one turn of the drive shaft.
Because reverse is a lower ratio gear than drive and puts less load on the engine.
I put into drive or try reverse and theshifter won't go into gear.
i have a 2002 saturn ls2. my transmission jerks in first and second gear and when i put on breaks. what should i do?
Park Reverse Neutral Drive 3rd gear 2nd gear Low gear
Park, reverse, neutral, Drive and low
Yes it does count as a gear because there is park, reverse, neutral -the one we are talking about-,and drive. P.R.N.D. GEARS.
Immediately passed the Park position. Neutral separates the Reverse gear and the Drive gears.
