The VIN number is found on the drivers side on the body door pilar, near the back edge of the left front fender. The number will begin with a "55". The third character will be either a number "7", "8" or "9", which is the code for either a "88", "super 88" or "98" model. The next character is a letter which is a code for the plant where the car was built. An "A" code is Atlanta, a "B" code is Boston, a "C" code is South Gate California, a "K" code is Kansas City, an "M" code is Lansing, Michigan, a "T" code is Texas (Arlington). The remainder of the characters are the sequential numbers of the cars that have been built. The first car off the line will have a 10001 number.
