The knock sensor just advances and retards the engine timing only. If there is a noise in the engine then you have engine are valve train problems. The knock sensor will not make the engine knock.
If a knock sensor was bad, the check engine light would be illuminated and the code(s) set would indicate so.
LS does not have a knock sensor. GSR does have a knock sensor
It is located on the side of the engine block. If you have a code for a knock sensor and you have a noise in the engine, it will set the code. That does not mean that the sensor is bad. They very rarely give problems.
Where is the knock sensor for a 99 pathfinder
that the knock sensor does
The knock sensor is located in the engine "V" under the upper and lower intake manifolds, and under the coolant crossover pipe. It requires considerable disassembly to get to. If you have a code for the knock sensor, be advised that the knock sensor is probably NOT the problem. Many problems will set the code for the knock sensor because they share part of the circuit. There are two oxygen sensors, one at the front where the exhaust pipe comes down and turns toward the back, and one behind the second converter, under the passenger seat.

knock sensor location
I don't believe it has a knock sensor.
Knock sensor = CKP sensor on this vehicle.
The knock sensor retards the engine timing when there is a knock or ping detected. This will make the car a little sluggish. It is rare that the knock sensor goes bad.
