the only major differences are SUV's are typically four door vehicles and they usually come with four wheel drive. its rare to see an SUV without four wheel. Trucks can get (from factory) stronger frames such as with F-350 or 3500. these frames aren't used on SUV's. the largest frame ive seen was a 250 or 2500 frame on excursions and suburbans. and obviously, SUV's are completely enclosed as where trucks have a 6 or 8 foot bed.
SUT is sports utility truck and SUV is sports utility vehicle. For the hummer brand this applies to the H2s. The SUT had an open bed in the back like pick up truck while the SUV which is the most common of the H2s was just the wagon.
There are many differences between a compact SUV and a regular SUV. The main difference that is most apparent to consumers is the difference in size and storage capabilities.

No matter what the brand of vehicle, an SUV is a full-sized sports utility vehicle, often based on a truck chassis. A cross-over is a smaller vehicle, as if they bred an SUV and a car/sedan together and the off-spring was the cross-over. A cross-over tends to not be as tall as an SUV.

The Chevrolet Tahoe is a SUV, but since it is based of the Chevrolet Silverado, it could be considered a truck also.
