The climb increases the strain through the gravitational pull backwards - strain requires more energy - energy means more RPM (revs per minute) which means the engine works harder. Water and Air act as the coolants to compensate for the increased work so: Check Water Levels, Oil Levels and ensure that the Radiator Cooling Fan works.... You may also need to drop-down / shift to a lower gear.

Why is the first gear best for climbing a steep hill?

The first gear is best for climbing a steep hill because it provides the most torque and power to overcome the resistance of the incline. This gear allows the engine to operate at a higher RPM, giving the vehicle greater pulling and pushing force to effectively climb the steep hill without stalling.

What is difference between simple hill climbing and steepest Ascent hill climbing in artificial Intelligence?

simple hill climbing uses evaluation function i.e evaluation of goal state & finding of better state, these 2 things can be done through heuristic knowledge, where as steepest ascent hill climbing have three major problem states i.e. local maximum, palteau & ridge which can be overcome by backtrack, jump, move several direction @ same time respectively & according to me steepest ascent hill climbing is extend version of simple hill climbing. if my whole concept is wrong let me know.

Should an automatic transmition roll backwards down hill while in drive?

Yes automatic transmission is not designed to hold a vehicle on a hill - it will just overheat and eventually need major repair Some vehicles have a "hill holding" option that locks the brakes, but it doesn't use transmission
