Alec Issigonis was important and successful because he was the first person to create a car with front wheel driveand with a transverse engine. (Mini Cooper) The Mini Cooper was a small, light car which was affordable for people and it used a small engine, which used small amounts of fuel. The Mini was spacious inside due to the transverse engine, because it was mounted sideways it meant that the motors would go to the front ones and the back tires would move by its own. The Mini Cooper went on to become the best selling car in history with a production of 5.3 million cars. He was influential because he inspired other car manufacturers to create front wheel drive to this day.
