I would not use this on a Heavy duty type of spring. This has a tendency to slip off the spring and does not have a long range of travel.

Like those teeth and that pretty face? Dont do it.... The coil spring may decompress spring out and hit you in the head. It would not be pretty. Please take it to a shop and have them do it or worst ccase, buy the Ford spring compressor. It WILL be much cheaper than the medical bills or funeral expenses.
Use a strut spring compressor to compress the old spring, the remove the strut from the spring. Use the compressor to put the strut into the new spring. Install the strut and spring into the vehicle.

You may have a bad compressor clutch coil, you need to check the coil and work from there................
There are 4 struts, They are not shocks.. They are called "coil over's". Meaning coil spring over strut. You will need a coil spring compressor to replace them yourself. Rent one at autozone.
well no you would have to take the tire off and put a spring compressor on the spring then you could take off the shock you can rent a spring compressor for auto part place

A clutch for an automotive air conditioning compressor is composed of three parts. the magnetic coil the pulley the hub the magnetic coil is mounted on the front of the compressor and nestles closely insid the pulley. the Pulley is mounted on the bearing mount extension of the compressor the hub is fastened to the end of the input shaft of the compressor. It normally sits slightly above the surface of the pulley When current is introduced into the coil, the coil becomes magnetic. Then the magnetism is transferred into the pulley and it pulls the hub down to engagement.
If your air compressor quit after changing the coil pack, you may have additional problems with the compressor. You may want to take the compressor to a service station to have it evaluated.
That can be a very dangerous task. You will have to have a coil spring compressor. Jack up the car and use jack stands and NOT cinder blocks. Remove the wheel. Remove the shock absorber. Install the spring compressor through the opening and compress the spring. Put a hydraulic jack under the lower control arm. Take the lower ball joint loose and slowly lower the jack. Remove the spring and slowly release the tension until the spring is extended. Remove the compressor and install it on the new spring. Insert the spring back into the cavity and jack the lower control arm back in place and connect the ball joint. I truly do NOT recommend that you do this. It will be cheaper and safer to have a shop that specializes in front end repairs to do it for you.
