how to change a belt on a 1993 gmc first get the proper belt .then you look at the pullies to make shure they are all good . now there is a pully dampener at the top .you got to lift or push it down to release the tention . now you can remove they belt .mack sure you put it back on they pullys the same way it came off they pullys .if in dought look at the front of your veihcal and there should be a sticker there an follow the sicker on they header panel for they routing

Pull back the belt tensioner and slip the belt off. Reverse procedure to install.

You have to take off the alternator to be able to reach the fan . After you should oiul the belt to slip on the fan very easy . Put the alternator back on and your ready to go .
-drain coolent -remove serpentine belt -remove clutch fan -remove rad hose going to water pump -unbolt and remove water pump
The serpentine belt has a tensioner that you nust pry up to remove the belt. There should be a schematic of the routing of the belt on the fan shroud. If not, draw one before removing it.

Loosen the component slide it towards the engine to lossen the belt, remove belt. Install in reverse. If the fan is your problem it is held on with 4 small bolts, remove them and the fan. P/S you should be able to work the belt around the fan blades without removing the fan. On_mitch
