Exchange Students and Auto Insurance in the USA
The same way as any other person. You contact an Insurance Agent or company who will give you a quote and offer a policy. You have to contact an Insurer and ask.
There are literally hundreds of Auto Insurers in the United States that will accept a foreign or international drivers license.
The United States offers International Reciprocity. Any Country that respects a U.S.A. issued drivers license of American citizens visiting that country will enjoy the same privilege for it's citizens when visiting the U.S.A. So as you can see, There is nothing illegal about driving in the USA with a foreign drivers license. Just make sure your driving in an insured vehicle, follow the law and the rules of the road.
It's not a problem at all. Just call around and find yourself a local agent who can meet your needs.

That is really difficult, Geico is decent at insuring new drivers.
Usually it is much cheaper to add a teen to the parents policy.
She may have to wait until she has her license and get coverage on her own. But when the exchange student has to drive a car for getting the licence? Here you have to drive 50h with an adult before you can get the license? What can I do? Please help me, getting the licence is very important for him. Thanks.
Most exhange students are not legally allowed to drive any motor vehicles... this inludes cars, jet skis, four wheeler, motorcycles or anything of that such.
No, Auto Insurance is required to Operate a motor vehicle on public roads, If the College student does not drive, then it is not necessary to have auto insurance nor is it necessary for them to have a drivers license.
If you are an enrolled student, of course.
The answer to this question is YES the student driver needs auto insurance because it is a requirement by the law that every driver, whether student or not, needs insurance. If you contact your insurance agent you will find out for the most part that the student driver needs to be listed on the insurance policy but they are not charged any fees until they become a full licensed driver. This was the advise that I had received from my insurance company, which is Met Life.
State Farm, Esurance, Allied, and Allstate all offer good student discounts on auto insurance.
I am a student exchange business in Los Angeles and I am having difficulty finding general liability insurance. Did you find an insurance broker that wasn't afraid of insuring Host Families? Nancy@nohoartsdistrict.com
You should start at your university/college and check out its resources for student travel insurance. Often, you can ask the exchange program for more information. If your school does not provide insurance, you can buy insurance from private insurance companies as well.

There are many auto insurance companies that will now insure electronic automobiles. These include Aviva, Progressage, Staffing Exchange, State Farm among others.
The generic auto insurance quote sites don't seem to take student drivers into account. You had best go to your preferred provider's site and see if their quote engine includes it.
Allstate does offer good student discounts. You can visit them at www.allstate.com
Depends on the carrier. Most will consider a full time student, age 25 or less, with an A or B average (or 3.0) for a good student discount.
One could find information on cheap auto insurance online in a number of locations. There are many websites that offer quotes in exchange for basic information, such as The General.
