It depends on the person, nicotine is a stimulant although it does relax you. For some people this could help, but for some it could do nothing. For some just opening a window or cranking up the AC/radio helps. Figure out what works for you, and always pull over if you feel you are too tired to drive.

If you wake up still tired you may have a sleeping disorder. It is a common disorder and you shouldn't feel worried about it. If you don't feel tired when you wake up you were just really tired. If you have any more questions ask me on my bio page.

In the morning, when you are about to wake up, sometimes you have the feeling of a pile of bricks- not wanting to wake up or move. This is most likely caused by sleeping late the previous night: being tired. Prevent this "I don't want to wake up" feeling by sleeping earlier.
