They will not cover mold and mildew damage since the do not cover damage that has been happening for an extended period of time. They may cover water damage if it happened suddenly. It depends on how your policy was written.

Without knowing what type of policy you have it's impossible to say. Not all Home insurance policies are the same. It all depends on the type of policy your purchased and the cause of the water damage. Some policies have coverage for accidental water leaks like overflows and a busted pipe while others do not. If the damage was caused by a covered peril then your coverage will invoke. If it is caused by age of material or lack of maintenance or poor workmanship then it would probably not be covered.
