could be the modulator valve has went bad !
may be a bad or worn ring and pinion gear axel brgs' or low gear oil
Vacuum leak, low compression, burnt valves, low fuel pressure, weak spark, bad transmission....
When the computer detects a malfunction it will default into second gear only. Check the codes and that will give you an idea of causes.
Could be a bad vacuum line, low on fluid, or a bad 700r4 trani
likely the egr valve and /or sensor is bad
well on my truck i have 4 gears low 123, and low gear is my granny gear because it goes very slow. in an automatic your 1 gear or your L gear is your granny gear
Yes
Idling too low or a bad lock-up torque converter solenoid.
The gear with the more number of teeth is bigger.
Transmission. If an Automatic trans and car sounds like it is always in '1st' gear (engine rpm very high, has a lot of torque when you press or release the gas pedal) the shift cable has the trans in 1st or low gear, or there is a problem within the transmission preventing it from shifting (low fluid level, bad solenoid on or in the trans, bad shifter assembly)
Fifth gear is like overdrive, it is meant for flat open highway driving. It is a gas saving gear so that you can travel at highway speeds at low rpm and your engine is just too small to use that gear at any other time. So use it on flat or slightly down sloped roads, fourth should be your normal gear for from about 45 to 65.
