The Starter relay for Acclaims are located right on the starter, its what the wires that go to the starter hooks to.
The starter is located behind the engine . First take the wires off the solenoid, then take the two bolts that go through the bell housing into the starter off and the starter will come out. Place back on mount, put bolts back on and hook wires and hose back up.
I'd check two things: I don't remember what year Ford changed over, but if yours still has the starter solenoid on the fender, make sure you haven't crossed the small wires. If the solenoid is on the starter, are you certain that you've wired the starter right? There are a couple small wires that connect to the starter,if you connect them wrong it could the cause problems you describe. If you're CERTAIN that the starter and/or solenoid are connected properly, start looking seriously at the ignition switch.
Depending On which solenoid if it is a starter solenoid there is one on the inner fender and one on the starter the one on the inner fender is changed by disconnecting the battery then removing the wires making sure to know where they go when you put the new one on then unbolt it and bolt the new one in the same way in reverse if it is the one on the starter however your best bet is to replace the starter completely it is more ecconomical in the long term of your vehicle Depending On which solenoid if it is a starter solenoid there is one on the inner fender and one on the starter the one on the inner fender is changed by disconnecting the battery then removing the wires making sure to know where they go when you put the new one on then unbolt it and bolt the new one in the same way in reverse if it is the one on the starter however your best bet is to replace the starter completely it is more ecconomical in the long term of your vehicle
Right side of vehicle under the oil filter for 4.0 engines. It is located on the starter. The solenoid is another smaller cylindrical shaped device that is mounted to the starter. If you have to replace it you have to buy the whole starter assembly that comes with a solenoid. I have not found a way to replace only the solenoid. Jeep engineered this to benefit their dealer service garages.
disconnect + battery terminal take out 2 bolt out of starter from the engine block take off the wires remebering where they go do in reverse order to reconnect
How do the starter wires go on a 95 sunfire2.2 engine
where do the wires on the starter go on a 1977 pontiac 400
I am currently having the same issue. First unhook the battery completely. Then you need to find where the wires on the starter are connected to the battery. Detach the wires from the starter that go to the battery. Once you have the starter wires completely detached from battery you can start removal of starter from engine block.
the solenoid is on the starter. It's the part the wires go into.
The starter needs a large wire from the battery and a wire from the starter switch. These are connected to the solenoid that is attached to the starter.
its located where the tranny bolts up to the motor. disconnect the three wires from the starter, then take the three bolts out of the starter and pull it out. just remember where the wires go!!

Look to the front left of the engine where the transmission mounts to it, you will see the starter there and it has several large wires bolted to it. Remove those wires ( after you have disconnected the battery ) and then remove the two bolts holding the starter on, replace with the new one and reconnect the wires, then reconnect the battery and off you go.
you disconnect neg. side of battrey and then raise the truck and some times over the th rt front over the tire you can get to the wires to disconnect if not go under car and look at starter should be able to acess the wires only 2 of them then take the 2 mounting bolts for starter, remove them and then sneak the starter out it will be alittle tight to do so take your time. there might be a shim between starter and engine if so must use it with new starter unless the new starter may say no shim needed, would be printed on the head of starter. if no shim install with no shim. when installing and you connecting wires be sure that wires are not! touching together if not sure when you go to connect battery it will spark badleyand starter will engauge at that point leave battery disconneted double check wires at starter.
Un-Hook battery- Unhook wires off old starter. (should be 3 wires ) some are 4 If unable to access wires take starter off first and then take off wires, Unbolt starter- will slide forward towards front of vechicle- and replace new starter everything vise-versa-- Don't worry because their is No way to put it in wrong because it will only GO in (1) way.. Note: U may want to mark your wires- so that you know where to place them when you put the new starter in.
disconnect your battery, {neg. cable first} then pos. cable, go under your car/truck and unbolt starter. There you have it. To install work it backwards
