Previous versions of GE can be downloaded from the direct installer links. Prior to the non-beta release of GE 6.0 in March 2011 GE 4.3 was still available and has since been removed.
Only caveat is these versions have the auto-installer disabled so you have to manually install any updates yourself. This is not a problem since the auto-update mechanism has been known to cause problems for windows users.

You have to download it from earth.google.com
1.Go onto Google.
2.type in google earth,click on go.
3.click on the very top one.
4.look at the top right corner.
5.click the green box that say 'download google earth [free]'.
Go to http://earth.google.com/ and click on the DOWNLOAD button.
You have to agree to its restrictions through a pop-up. Be sure to check if your browser is blocking the popup.
On Windows XP: Just run the setup executable with administrator privileges.
On Linux: At the xterm window, in the directory where the downloaded file is located, type
sudo sh ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin
You should be prompted for a directory where you want to keep it. The executable is called googleearth and should be located in your /usr/sbin directory unless otherwise specified.
I did not select Linux. I think it detected my OS and downloaded the linux. A few weeks ago, this did not work, but the newest version is working.

There are numerous websites that offer old or outdated versions of certain programs, including Internet Explorer. Simply by typing "old versions of Internet Explorer" into google, one is presented with a list of options for restoring old versions.

For Street View imagery the date of a Street View is displayed bottom right of the image (but not the time).For dates of the base imagery in Google Maps you'll need to use Google Earth and locate the same location and zoom level for the same view to see the imagery date.
