oil scraper rings are the rings on the pistons that scrape the excess oil off the cylander walls on the down stroke of each piston. this is done to remove excess oil from the combustion chamber in normal operation of an engine if this was not done you would always burn oil and forever be topping up oil in engine

What would cause an oil leak around the muffler on a 2004 Sunfire?

THATS usally cause by the engine using oil-because of bad oil rings etc.

In a typical automotive engine the piston contains compression rings?

Yes. That is a true statement.

What causes the oil dip stick to come out allowing for oil to blow out hole?

if oil is blowing out dipstick hole, this indicates that the inside of engine and oil pan are pressurizing.check to make sure oil filler cap is venting and not clogged.if this is not the problem, the other cause is broken piston rings causing pressurization of engine

Is it possible to fix the oil rigs on a '95 Ford Thunderbird myself Are oil rigs a universal part or are they different between different brands or models?

Every engine model has a different size of rings. The rings are probably the hardest part to change, because you have to disassemble the entire engine. If removing, tearing down and rebuilding an engine is beyond your abilitys, you should get a good used engine and swap it. Often replacing it with a used engine will be much cheaper.

What causes low oil if you see no leak?

Your car is possibly burning oil which means you probably should have it checked by a mechanic. If your rings are bad, you could be burning it. Check to see if you're smoking or if there's an oily residue on the inside of your tailpipe. The engine may be burning the oil due to worn valve guide seals or piston rings or check your rad cap to see if there is a white foam or greasey oil on it.If you find oil in your rad the head gasket might be damaged or you could have a cracked block. please dont remove the rad cap unless the engine is cool!
