only by a scan tool
NOTE FROM ANOTHER USER: STOP THIS. If you do not know the entire answer to a question do not answer it. First the PCM is the Powertrain Control Module and the BCM is the Body Control Module. I wish I knew more about what you were trying to do. If you are trying to clear codes, you can use a scanner, also, if you disconnect the battery for an extended period of time it will reset, however, you are going to flash and engine code for the next 50 cycles. (It is only to tell you that are battery has been recently disconnected). If you are trying to reset the BCM to program a keyless entry remote, remove the fuse from the panel and switch from ACC to off to ACC to set it into program mode. The exception to this rule is the 1999 Grand am. You will need a scanner. I you.

I had the same problem with an 01 Impala. Unfortunaltely the fix isn't cheap. For mine, it was the ignition switch combined with the BCM (Body Control Module). About a grand at the mechanic will fix it. However having said that, I made the repair, and the problem has started again only 6 months later. A quick diagnostic at the mechanic will specify what the problem is.
I know of two ways to reset your body control module. 1. Disconnect your battery positive cable and let it set for at least an hour. Then reconnect the cable and turn the key on (do not start the vehicle) and let the computer relearn the settings. Give it 20 seconds then start your car. This has worked for me in the past. 2. Take it to a dealer and let them reprogram the module. This will cost around $100.00 depending on the dealer. New BCM's cost around $600.00 and then you have to pay a dealer to program the new one to your vehicle. Good luck.
same issue here as well... No answer yet, but i believe problem is in bcm... will update asap. And the bulbs check okay?

To remove the Body Control Module (BCM) from a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, first disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical shorts. Then, locate the BCM, which is typically found under the dashboard near the steering column or behind the center console. Unplug the electrical connectors from the BCM, and remove any screws or clips securing it in place before carefully pulling it out. Ensure you handle the new BCM properly and follow appropriate reinstallation steps when replacing it.
The body control module (BCM) on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am is typically located inside the vehicle, under the dashboard on the driver's side. It is often found near the fuse box or mounted on the bracket behind the instrument panel. To access it, you may need to remove some trim panels or the lower dash cover. Always ensure the vehicle is turned off and the battery is disconnected before attempting to access the BCM.

To reset the Body Control Module (BCM) on a 2002 Pontiac Aztek, first disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for about 10-15 minutes to allow any residual power to drain. Reconnect the battery cable, ensuring a tight connection. You may also need to use a scan tool to clear any diagnostic trouble codes and reprogram the BCM settings if necessary. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific procedures related to your model.
To reset the Body Control Module (BCM) on a 2001 Saturn L300, first disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for about 10-15 minutes. This allows the system to reset. Reconnect the battery cable, then turn the ignition to the "ON" position without starting the engine for a few seconds before starting the vehicle. This process can help clear any stored error codes and reset the BCM.
