I found your question because I was searching for the answer myself!! I am trying to deactivate the chime on my DB9 - and sent it back to Aston Martin to ask them to do it. They refused. The dealer I bought it from is looking in to having it removed 'privately' on the qt. Meanwhile I am going to write to Aston to moan like bloody mad about how annoying it is that I can't even reverse down my drive without ding... ding... ding... ding... in my ear. Please do the same!
Any where they can catch a breeze. A wind chime should be hung anywhere that it is not blocked from the wind. Make sure where you hang it has as little blocking the chime from wind as possible. The more angles the wind can get to it from, the more often it will chime. Ideal wind speeds to make your chime's sound perfect are believed to be about 6-10mph. Also, keep in mind that the chime should be close enough to somewhere you will spend a lot of time, so you are within earshot when it does sound!
It might be a fault with the anti-theft feature. Ford has had several recalls due to this. Web search for safety recall on faulty key-in-ignition chime. I had the same problem with my 1998 Ford Explorer Sport although it started chiming all by itself. On my Exlorer there is a set of 5 wires in a yellow sheath running from the ignition module to a brown connection point/harness in a very uncomfortable position directly under the steering column above the pedals. I unplugged the connection at this point. The pinging, or ringing chime comes from the multifunction computer located under the dash behind the radio. Hope this help.
I dont know what the value is, only that I have one! Anyone else want to chime in??
There are many fine "hybrid" cans that are primarily plastic except for a metal chime and lid that work great. The problem with many of the all plastic cans is that they do not seal properly, so when they are spun or shook at the paint store, they leak paint around the lid onto the painting equipment. Also, they don't reseal well once they've been opened so the paint doesn't have near the shelf life of a can with a metal lid. The problem isn't the can though, the problem is how the can that you use to store the leftover paint is handled. If you work directly from the can, allow the paint to run down the outside of the can and just put the lid on and put it out in the shed once the job is done, then the paint will not have a long shelf life at all. For longest shelf life, use an actual paint can opener, like a church key, to pry the lid off the can. This will ensure that the lid edge remains flat so that it opens easily the next time. Also, don't paint directly from the can, pour the paint from the can into a separate work pot or into your roller tray, then clean out the chime prior to putting the lid back on to the can. Hammer the lid down evenly with a mallet, clean off any paint on the outside of the can, especially if it's a metal can, then store the can in an area that is not exposed to weather. Another option is to purchase quart cans from the paint store and pour off your excess paint into them so that the lid and chime are pristine. That's the most important part of sealing the can, is keeping the chime clean and keeping the lid in like-new shape. As far as half gallons, there's only a limited amount of storage in any paint store, so the sizes are limited to quarts, gallons and fives. Other than 55 gallon drums, any other sizes are rare and are usually used to package components for multi-part coatings.
Get into the car, turn the key to the on position (without turning the engine on) and wait until the seat belt reminder light goes off (about a minute). Then buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 9 times within 50 seconds ending in the unbuckled position. Then the light flashes a few times real quick. Then buckle and unbuckle the seat belt within 7 seconds of the light turning off and it should be good to go. This is at least how to do it on a 2011. Just because you disable the seat belt reminder doesn't mean your not going to wear the seat belt. An adult in America is quite capable of knowing when/how to buckle up without a chime reminding them. Put your seatbelt on! It's amazing! Shuts right up! Or, you can chance having an EMT like myself pick up your body parts after you go through the windshield! Dear EMT: we have certain FREEDOMS in the U.S. Ideas or even ANSWERS to questions which you don't like ARE ALLOWED. Try not to be a NAZI
