700r4 froom 1988 to 98 are the same but with different working havit's 1988 to 90 where vaccum modulated shift controlled and from 91 to 97 had an electronic lockout solenoid other than that they can be mounted to any Chevrolet out there trck or car after 97 they became 4l60le and 4l65le for 4wdrive from 1998 to2006 hope this helps
a diesel mechanic is just like any other automotive mechanic, except they fix trucks and other vehicles that have diesel engines.A diesel mechanic is a mechanic that specializes on fixing or building diesel engines for such vehicles as tractors, semi-trucks, or pick-up trucks that have diesel engines.
they are transported by trucks to stores and are flown to other countries not reachable by truck
Yes, Birds are believed as well as other animals to have an innate sense of direction, or a "built-in compass" by earth's magnetic field. Concerns have arisen about electromagnetic interference with their internal compasses and our radio and other electromagnetic transmissions, such as the theory of why Bees are seemingly disappearing.
The 3.0 liter is not as interchangeable as the 4.0 liter. The 4.0 liter is interchangeable with the a4ld from the bronco 2 2.8 and 2.9's. The 4r55e and 5r55e's also all interchange with minor wiring differences.
Based on information that is generated within the transmission and other sensors in the engine, the solenoid (or any one of them) controls certain functions of the transmission such as changing gears.
"Being you say it is a 1982 K-10 I will give the information based on it being original. The axles are both GM 10 bolts, 8.5" ring gear, 1.280" axle shaft diameter, 28 spline, open differential. The gears are very likely 3.08 since GM was stuck on using very tall gearing. They even did something stupid and used the 3.08 gears with the 700R4 (1982 was the first year for its use). I have a 1982 Blazer with the 6.2L, 700R4, and 3.08 gears; overdrive is absolutely worthless with those gears. The transfer case is most likely the NP208 aluminum case, chain drive front output. Not knowing what engine you have (250 I-6, or V8 305 or 350, or 6.2L Diesel) I will list possible transmissions: 700R4, or TH350, or SM465, or there were some other possible transmissions used with the I-6."Copied
the transmission will bolt up to the block. trans mount in rear will most likely be different. shift linkage will sorta work. reason being is th350 has three forward gears and 700r4 has four forward gears. when i did the swap from th350 to 700r4 i made my own rear mount. instead of the stock shifting assembly i used a B&M megashifter for 700r4. make sure you use the torque converter for the 700r4. it should be noted that this is a common swap and many aftermarket companies offer shift linkage set ups or shifters for this application as well as mounts for the rear of the trans and any other adapting devices you might need.
The only thing controlled by the cars computer on a TH700R4 is the lock-up. You will need this if you are towing, otherwise stay in OD(overdrive). The other wires are for the reverse lights. There is also a computer controlled version of the TH700R4 but is known as a 4L60e.
I have the 4x4 version and it came with a TH-400.
First of all. If it is a 1993 and is a 1/2 ton then it will have the 4L60E transmission in it. Not the 700R4. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E in them. If you put a 350 turbo in it the engine Will not even run right because of the computer system on the truck will be trying to figure out were the transmission is at. See the transmissions that came factory ( see above ) are electronic controlled transmissions and the computer on the truck reads and controls the engine and transmission at all times. So if you do away with 1 or the other things won't work right. If you want the truck to run and shift right. Then put 1 of the above transmissions back in it. Remember- 1/2 and 3/4 ton transmissions are different. You didn't say what weight truck you have.
A bad 700r4? Getting a transmission out is not for amatuers. It probably wieghs between 150 and 200 pounds. Otherwise it's like removing any other transmission. Disconnect the driveshaft, mounts, crossmember, and torque converter plus lines such as transmission cooling. Hope this helps.
yes, hurst has about 3 of them that will work and there are a couple other companies out there also, look on the summit racing website.
A 700r4 will fit most smallblock v8 motored GM vehicle, if it has anything other than a v8 it will not fit
i would put a 700r4 that's a good one for the gas per mile and towing or 350 turbo for the other
If it's an automatic transmission, then it's a THM 700R4/4L60, and it's used in almost every type of RWD vehicle Chevy makes, whether a full size car, a van, a pickup or an SUV. They probably built about 50 million of these transmissions, worldwide.
if there is a cable from the transmission to the throttle body it is a 700R4.if there is a huge electronic plug in behind a plate next to the exaust on the passenger side of the trans it is a 4L60E.The 88-98 Chevy GMC trucks used two automatic overdrives the THM700R4/4L60E. the THM700R4 was used from 88 up till 92 then switched to the 4L60E wich is basically the same transmission but used an electronicly activated valvebody controlled by the engine controll module. The 700R4 can be found in many other GM vehicles from f- bodies (camaro/trans am) to the corvette, and both contain an electronically activated "lock up torque converter" wich lowered cruising speed rpm's...The four-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 700R4 was introduced for the 1982 model year for use in Chevrolet/GMC vehicles. In 1990, the Turbo Hydra-Matic 700R4 was renamed the 4L60. Under the new designation, the "4" stands for the number of forward gears, the "L" for longitudinal applications (rear-wheel-drive), and the "60" is the strength rating (less than the 4L80)."60" is the relative torque value. For example, 80 is stronger than 60, which is stronger than 40, etc. A 4L80-E can handle more torque than a 4L60-E. The "E" denotes electronically controlled shifting. The 4L60 however is hydraulically shifted based on governor pressure and TV cable position. 1992 was the last year of widespread usage of the 700R4 (4L60). 1993 Camaro, Corvette and Typhoon were equipped with the last production 700R4. The last design change of the 700R4 was an added checkball to the valve body.In 1992 electronic controls were added, and it became the 4L60-E.The 4L60E went into service in trucks, vans, and SUVs in 1993 and in all RWD passenger cars (Corvette, F and B/D bodies) in 1994.
NO. That year must have the 4L60E transmission put back in it if it is a 1/2 ton. The 3/4 tons must have the 4L80E put in them. If you put the 700R4 in it the engine will never run right and you will have NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS due to the computer system on the 96 truck. The ONLY 2 years that will interchange with the 96 is a 96 or 97 transmission. No other years will work.
