According to my 1972 Datsun 240z sports model S30 series engine service manual, the specifications are as follows- Distributor point gap: 0.4mm-0.5mm (0.0157 - 0.0197 in.) Distributor initial advance: Note that the pulley groove is graduated 5° per scale division in terms of the crank angle. (Timing mark on pulley is 5° advanced from 0° on crank) L20A engine (2.0 liter): 10°/550 rpm (manual trans) 10°/650 rpm in neutral (auto trans) L24 engine (2.4 liter): Single carburetor: 17°/550 rpm (manual trans) 17°/650 rpm in neutral (auto trans) SU twin carburetors: 17°/650 rpm (manual trans) 17°/700 rpm in neutral (auto trans) SU twin carburetors & emission controls (air pump, etc.): 5°/750 rpm (manual trans) 0°/600 rpm in drive 0°/780 rpm in neutral for reference (auto trans) Hope this helps.
The distributor is not timed with a timing light. The distributor rotor is lined up with the mark in the pick up plate when the crank is at tdc#1. The computer then does all timing from there.
timming just needs to be close the computer adjusts it to what it needs and the points are gone since the early 70's it is electronic with moduales, sensors and such
see a chiltons repair manual from the library.
Metric fluid bolt spec? Exactly what does that mean? You want the torque specifications of a certain bolt. What bolt, used to attach what are you referring to?
149
8 degrees
6 BTDC
Timing is handled by the computer, there is no adjustment needed.
2 before tdc at 1600 rpm vacuum advance disconnected
I beleive the factory spec is 4-6 degrees retarded.
as long as the cam timing is set correctly there should be no reason to check ignition timing because there is no way to adjust it anyway. if there is a spec it should be under the hood on a white label.
advance your timing 6 degrees due to this ethanol crap fuel we run now

0 degrees with vac off and electroniv advance disconected according to the sticker on my hood
what is the timing spec for a 94 camaro 3.4l v6i converted it to carb and points on distributor
6 deg +/- 1 with distributer vacum blocked and idle at 750 +/- 50 rpm
