No Old Testament book literally refers to Jesus, nor is there any specific prophecy that God would send a savior to die for our sins. But Burton L. Mack describes a trick that can be used to make any Old Testament book say what you want it to say. Mack says in Who Wrote the New Testament that at first the study of a text may not seem to support a traditional Christian conviction, or the answer one hopes to find in The Bible. But with a little ingenuity, one can set up the comparison again with other emphases and make the answer come out right. This trick seems to come naturally when studying the Bible, and Mack sees it happen all the time in the classrooms of the School of Theology at Claremont.

Following these simple rules, you can usually find whatever prophecies of Jesus that you wish. However, there are limitations when the question becomes too specific. Here we are looking for a single 'prophecy' that God would send a savior, that the savior would die and, finally, that the reason for his death was the sins of the world. It would probably take considerable ingenuity to make this answer come out of the Bible. The best that is probably possible is to find two or three passages that look like prophecies of each promise.

For example, in Deuteronomy 18:15-16 we could 'find' a prophecy that God would send a prophet, although not necessarily a savior: "The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not."

Elsewhere, we could 'find' prophecies we could explain as foretelling the death of Jesus, and perhaps other prophecies that Jesus would suffer for our sins. How convincing the prophecies are in combination will depend on the effort put into finding just the right ones.

That is not true. The whole Old Testament is the story of Jesus. Genesis 49:10; 2 Samuel 7:12-13 then fulfilled in Matthew 1:1; Isaiah 7:14 fulfilled in Luke 1:35;

Explain How the Old Testament and the New Testament are different?

The biggest difference is in the Old Testament any christian was a christian because they new Jesus was coming and was going to die on the cross, in the New Testament they got to be with Jesus, they saw Him and most beleived. In the new testament till now we believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that through Him we can go to heaven. So the main thing is people believed that Jesus died for their sins and for the Old Testament they believed He was coming.

What do the books in the Old Testament tell us about?

They tell part of God's redemptive story to bring humanity back into a right relationship with Him leading up to God the Father sending His Son, Jesus, into the world to bring about redemption from sin. We clearly see God's character in the Old Testament (His love, grace, holiness, sovereignty, power, saving nature, etc.) The Old Testament contains the Law and the Prophets, which Jesus later fulfilled (Matthew 5:17 & Luke 24:44). The Old Testament shows us our need of a Savior to pay for our sins, and speaks of the Savior who was to come. Jesus fulfills all of the prophecies of the Old Testament, lives a perfect life without sin, and then becomes the sacrifice for all humanity's sin, thus completing the work His Father gave Him to do.

The sacrificial system of the Old Testament was incapable of?

It was incapable of permanently washing their sins away, once for all, which is why they had to do so many sacrifices. In Christ, our sins are washed away forever, with no need of any other sacrifice for our sins.

What was the Christian Testament and you do not know where it can be found in the Bible?

First that question is not properly written to give you the perfect answer. The "Christian testament"? The Bible is made out of the "Old Testament" and the "New Testament" which is the Bible. The Bible is broken up by different books that create the Old and the New. In the Old Testament, that is where Jesus has not yet come to earth and die for our sins. Therefore, in the Old Testament there was worse judgment on the world. Then, the New Testament is when Jesus finally came to earth to die for our sins so that we may have eternal life. Basically, the Bible is in two halves. The Old Testament starts with Genesis where God talks about how he created the world. Then the New Testament starts in the Book of Matthew then so on. If you are looking to study about Jesus Christ, start with the New Testament.

On the contrary, the New Testament reveals God as Savior primarily in the Christ event. Jesus is Savior of the outcasts of Israel (Luke 2:11), the nation of Israel (Acts 5:31; 13:23), the church (Eph. 5:23), and the world (John 4:42; 1 John 4:14). The Gospel according to Matthew 1:21 says "Jesus shall save his people from their sins." Jesus' saving role involves giving repentance and forgiveness of sins.
