First, there was some other reason you were pulled over, they had no way of knowing you didn't have insurance. Depending on the laws in your state, you may lose your license, you will most likely get a ticket for it. You may have to get insurance before they will release your car. Pay the towing and impound fees. You could easily end up paying $500 to get your car back and unless you have a lot of tickets, that would have paid for more than a years insurance. It's almost always better and cheaper to play by their rules. Been there, done that.
you get a major ticket and your bike gets impounded. but if your a good rider cops are respectful to motorcyclists
Because the car's in your registration its your fault if the person's driving it dont have their license and they get pulled over not only would your insurance go up your car might get impounded.
The driver's.
GEICO Insurance runs a commercial where Maxwell the pig gets pulled over by a cop. He is handed a ticket by the cop.
Red, there's something about it that just gets pulled over :-)
Yes, driving without insurance in South Carolina is a misdemeanor offense and can result in fines, license suspension, and potentially jail time, especially if it is a repeat offense. It is important to have the minimum required insurance coverage to avoid legal consequences.
If the fire works are illegal the car would be impounded. You would be responsible for the towing and impound fees. Not to mention all the legal issues.
RedThere is no evidence that red cars get pulled over more than any other.check snopes below.
Provided you have permission to drive the vehicle (that is, you didn't steal it, or otherwise "borrow" it) you should be ok. Insurance policies in most jusrisdictions - perhaps all - are required to cover occassional drivers, and it should make no difference who owns the vehicle, provided it is legally plated. Keep in mind that if you are pulled over for something really stupid like drunken driving, or racing, the vehicle could be impounded at great expense to you or the owner.
Your insurance should not go up, since it was not a moving traffic violation
if he had your permission, then yes, most companies will raise your rates if they find out, or at least note your file. it goes into their profile towards your decision making ability.
If your issurance has run out and you are pulled over what happens can depend on your driving history. If your driving record is good the worse that may happen is you will be ticketed for $538.00. If your record shows something your car may be impounded and/or your license suspended. on top of the ticket. You may fight this if you are caught without your proof of insurance with you, by going to court and bringing proof that you wer insured during the time you were pulled over. That depends on where you live. In Anchorage, AK you get a ticket(somewhere around $150 for the Police) your car towed(towing fees and $13 a day storage to the towing company). Then you pay the city $250 to get your car back. After that you go to criminal court, and if this is your first offence they charge you $250 again.
