I live in Missouri and the wind here causes some interesting weather conditions. There doesn't seem to be any one wind direction here. However every now and then we get really powerful winds that can last up to 24 hours. Depending on the direction of the wind will severely alter the weather here and give us unusual weather. When strong winds blow from the north for a day we could have cold weather even in March it could drop below freezing temperature. When the wind blows from the south it could make temperatures up to 60 degrees in the winter months. But to answer your question it is hard to say which direction the wind blows in Central America.

What is the direction of westerlies in new zealand?

Winds are categorised according to the direction from which they blow - so a Northerly over NZ blows from the tropics towards the south and is usually a warmer air flow, while a southerly, blowing from Antarctica, would be chilly. Westerly winds over NZ are the prevailing winds, that is, they blow from that direction most often. Westerlies blow from Australia, across the Tasman Sea and approach NZ along its West Coast.
