Why are diesel engines so noisy when they are running?
Diesel engines are inherently noisy due to the method in which they burn fuel. Unlike spark ignition engines, compression ignition engines run much higher compression ratios, about 18:1 as opposed to gasoline engines which typically run a 10:1 ratio. Regular pump gas. I like to add some Gumout and Stabil to all the gas I run in my small engines. And always remember to run your engines dry and/or shut off the fuel supply at the end of the season- gas with ethanol (most pumps have up to 10% ethanol) will clog up your carburetor if it sits.
