depends on state laws, usually up to 2 years.
You need to file an insurance claim on any accident in which a claim is going to be made on both parties.
Only you know the extent of the damage and who your insurance will handle the claim.
probably not, especially if the other party does NOT make a claim against you for the damages
You can either pay for the repairs yourself, or make a claim on your insurance. If you make a claim without the other driver's info or a police report, you will likey be deemd at fault and your premiums may increase.
Absolutely. You have an obligation to report it to your insurance company and to cooperate with the settlement of the claim. If it was very small you can try to deal with the person directly to keep it from going on your insurance. Be carefull with this because you can't try to settle it your self then turn it over to your insurance company. You can contact them and ask them to get an estimate before you decide.
I have used them for over 8 years now for Auto and Home. During that time, I had to put a claim in for a home repair (frozen pipes that exploded when it thawed) and a minor fender bender. My experience with them have been GREAT.
Every company have their own rules regarding premium changes to their policy. You will need to either speak to your agent or the customer representative to find out why your premium change. In some case, you may be able to buy back the claim(essentially reimbursing the claim cost to the insurance company) and have the change removed.
I would say yes although I am not familiar with Florida law specifically. What comes to mind is a minor fender bender. The police are not always called to an accident if the parties agree to fore go calling and fault is not an issue.
Just file a claim with the other parties insurance company. You called the police and got an accident report, right?
That IS what you carry insurance for. Contact the police to fill out a report, then turn it in to your insurance. If this is your first claim, it shouldn't affect your rates. If it's NOT he first claim, you might want to consider off-street parking.
If they were not parked illegally then they are not responsible for your accident.
Yes, most likely, your premium will raise to some degree. If you don't claim it through insurance, there would be no premium hike. Parking lot incidents are almost ALWAYS considered 50/50 fault, sad to say, unless you can PROVE otherwise!
