There is an axe and some armor at the top of the tall hill to the far right in 831 AD (the Viking time). To reach it, you will need the Glider Wings from Leonardo DaVinci (1516 AD, 4 o'clock on the time device). Climb to the top by the blocked cave, and leap up and right from the very edge.
The Viking suit is an extra bonus, not a required item to be used on the island.
