Yes, you do indeed have to pay. Wizard101 usually has deals going on... such as a year for 60$ or anything like that... If you are not interested in becoming a member because you have to pay there are still a lot of things you can do. You can not go down some lanes, such as Colossus Boulevard, Cyclops Lane, and Firecat Alley. You can also NOT travel through the biggest tree in Ravenwood... also known as Bartleby. (He usually takes you to the different worlds once completing the one you are in.)
