Photojournalism is good training. Most of the good paparazzo have a photojournalism background. But, most of the paparazzo today are a new breed lacking in formal education or useful backgrounds. You could easily excel with a proper education.
You will find everyone loves you when you put a cute picture of their kid on the front page or visit their kid's elementary school for pictures of a 2nd grade play. You will also find people hate you when you put a picture of their kid being arrested for killing his dad on the front page or any picture involving any minority member in a bad light. Etc., etc., etc.. That's photojournalism.
Like photojournalist, paparazzi are just doing their job. For the most part, the people they photograph love them. The publicists and promoters love them. It's funny that people think paparazzi are bad when the people they photograph are actually posing for them at prearranged meetings. Maybe the disgust of paparazzi should be directed at the people who buy the rags full of that crap, and the famous who auction off pictures of their kids.
Paparazzo don't sell their souls to the devil, they are born without souls. <Well they have a sense of humor>
