There are two ways to unlock stuff, the first is every 25 fights it will unlock a character and an arena. The second is you fight through single player and every belt fight you win you get a character and the arena they are in. To unlock costumes you have to beat B.F.R. (the last belt fight in single player) with each character to unlock their specific costumes.
