he does several times in the manga and anime but he never mangages to catch him though he can close the first time which was in the 1st series but he does become a sage and sasuke is completely swallowed by darkness and is now doesn`t have any thing nice in him and sakura is leaving Konaha to follow sasuke to kill him and naruto is chasing sakura and sasuke at the same time
