Hephaestus was the Greek god of fire, forge and artisans. It is said that Hephaestus's parents Zeus and Hera were fighting, and when he intervened they threw him from the top of Mount Olympus. It took him a full day to land. Thetis, goddess of the sea collected his pieces and again made him whole. As a result of this fall Hephaestus's feet were malformed among other malformations. It is said that Hephaestus possessed a unique zest for life and an affinity for intoxicating spirits.
