There are four Civil War battlefields in Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania Counties in Northern, Virginia: Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Spotsylvania. 4. Gettysburg National Military ParkGettysburg, Pennsylvania. Located 80 miles north of Washington, DC. The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point of the Civil War during which 51,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, or captured over a three-day period. 5. Manassas National Battlefield ParkManassas, Virginia. Located 32 miles west of Washington, DC. The 5000-acre park preserves the site of the First and Second Battles of Manassas during the Civil War. 6. Monocacy National BattlefieldFrederick, Maryland. Located 41 miles northwest of Washington, DC. The Battle of Monocacy was the last time that the Confederacy invaded the North during the Civil War.The Battles of Concord and Lexington were the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. Both sites where they took place are located around Boston.
