Kosovo is definitely Serbian. Throughout history it has proven to be an important region for the Serbs and it is part of their original homeland. Many serbs have died here including Prince Lazar Of Serbia in defence of the Serbs against of the Ottomans in 1279. Just because the majority of their population is Albanian does not mean they have the right to just leave, especially a region of that importance and culture, which will likely be removed by the Albanians. The only reason there are so many albanians there is because the albanians as a race and a country have the highest birthrate in the world , and serbs where massacred and deported in the 2 days and NATO covered up the atrocities committed against Serbian civilians to justify their devastating bombing campaign over civilian targets in Serbian cities in their area bombing campaign.
The enemies of Kosovo are primarily the KLA terrorists, the Albanian government and their supporters. The KLA has effectively occupied the Serbian land of Kosovo, terrorizing both the Albanian and non-Albanian population. At this point the Kosovo Police, a group of KLA, has established presence in most parts of Kosovo. Serbian Gendarmerie still patrols the regions borders, in order to stop any attemt of KLA to overrun Serbia.

The war happened in Kosovo. The War happened in Kosovo, from 1998 - 23 June 1999. It was Serbian aggression on Albanian terrorists, not on civilians.
NATO intervened and effectively pushed the Serbian forces out of Kosovo. Once the Serbian military was outside of Kosovo, the genocide against the ethnic Albanian Kosovars could no longer continue.
The atrocities in Kosovo were performed by the Serbian Orthodox Christians led by Slobodan Milosevic against the ethnic Albanian Muslims, who composed over 90% of Kosovo's population.
Kosovo and Metohija was so named because the Serbian Orthodox Church was founded there and numerous important churches remain there. However, while the region was seen as the "birthplace of Serbian identity and religion", it had a majority Albanian population by the 1940s. This population further rose steadily to become an effective supermajority during the Tito years in Yugoslavia. Part of it comes from the higher reproductiveness of the Albanian population (relative to the Serbian population, which was the largest minority) and part of it comes from Tito's acceptance of numerous Albanian refugees fleeing the repressive government of Enver Hoxha. By the 1990s, this supermajority of Albanians were seen to be a threat to the historic "Serbian-ness" of the region, resulting in Slobodan Milosevic trying to ethnically cleanse the Albanians from Kosovo. The Serbian history and the Albanian residency were the two historic conditions that led to the violence in Kosovo.
